The Dark Sky Programme of the POLARIS – OPP Association and the Astronomical Institute of the Wroclaw University, would like to invite to the 12th European Symposium for the Protection of the Night Sky which will be held in Bielsko-Biała, 13th-15th of September 2012 at the ZIAD Bielsko-Biała S.A. during 25th International Power Industry Fair ENERGETAB 2012.Main goals
The Symposium will deal with the issues of light pollution, its causes, its negative effects and possible remedies. This event will bring together light pollution advocates, academia, representatives of municipalities and lighting industry. The Symposium would include:
- wide talk sessions concerning issues of dark sky protection,
- presentation of systems reducing light pollution caused by artificial lightning,
- visiting the biggest in Poland power industry fair ENERGETAB 2012,
- excursion to Szyndzielnia mountain peak by the Aerial Cable Car,
- casual ASTROEVENT at Sopotnia Wielka at the Dark Sky Area CN-001,
- presentation of theme tent pavilions during ENERGETAB fair,
- presentation of the Izera Dark-Sky Park – first of its kind in Poland (CN-003 area),
- exhibition of photos and educational equipment,
- other activities.
