FIGHTING TO IMPROVE IRELAND’S NIGHT SKIES
April 15, 2024 @ 8:00 pm

EVENT DETAILS
Artificial lighting used inappropriately or excessively causes light pollution, adversely affecting the environment, the health of humans and wild animals, biodiversity, and (through energy waste) the climate. The last few generations of city dwellers are the first in human history to be denied a sight of the starry heavens.
Dark Sky Ireland campaigns to halt and reverse the progressive light pollution of our night skies. Prof. Brian Espey, Associate Professor of Physics at Trinity College Dublin, is its chairperson – photo below. He will talk about the successes that have been achieved and the next steps.

Cork Astronomy Club supports Cork Sky Friendly Campaign which campaigns on light pollution in County Cork.
Note : Please arrive 10 minutes early.
