May 27 2024 @ 8:00 pm

You can also join the meeting online a few minutes before the event by clicking on this Zoom link (at 19:00 UT).
Artificial lighting used inappropriately or excessively causes light pollution and, aside from its impact on astronomers and our view of the night sky, adversely affecting the environment, the health of humans and wild animals, biodiversity, and (through energy waste) the climate. Dark Sky Ireland campaigns to halt and reverse the progressive light pollution of our night skies. Brian Espey, Associate Professor of Physics at Trinity College Dublin, as its chairperson will talk about the successes that have been achieved and the next steps.
