The fourth ever Skellig Coast Dark Sky Festival taking place along the Skellig Coast in Co Kerry in the south-west of Ireland from March 27th –30th 2025 – astronomy talks, stargazing, events in Irish, family friendly events, archaeo-astronomy.

Among the events are:

  • A lecture by astrophysicist Prof Paul Callanan in the otherworldly setting of the Valentia Slate Quarry on Valentia Island
  • An archaeo-astronomy visit to prehistoric petroplyphs with archaeologist Aoibheann Lambe
  • A Friday night concert organized by Éigse na hAoine whose lineup has been exclusively live original music by Ireland’s leading traditional music composers and performers
  • Astronomy talks and, weather permitting, stargazing with expert astronomy guides
  • Astgro-photography workshop with Davy Patton
  • An astrophotography exhibition
  • A talk on astronomer Agnes Mary Clerke by Finola Finlay (of Roaringwaterjournal.com)
  • Talks on the folklore of astronomy in areas within eastern Europe, the Middle East and also in Ireland
  • A book reading by author of the Light Thieves Helena Duggan and a talk on the effects of light on our health by lighting engineer Willie Duggan
  • Wildlife and the dark skies
  • Art workshops for adults and children
  • A parade.
